Position Overview
At Crimson Heights, our mission is to help teens and young adults with autism move toward greater independence. Since 2017, we’ve delivered in-clinic, in-home, and community-based behavioral health services with a focus on compassionate, client-centered care.
We are currently seeking a School-Based Support Mentor to provide direct support to students in a school setting. This role focuses on teaching and modeling healthy behaviors while supporting treatment goals related to independence, socialization, relationships, and community integration.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Client Support
- Provide individualized support and mentorship to clients within a school environment.
- Encourage and model healthy behaviors aligned with treatment and care plans.
- Assist clients in achieving goals related to mental health, independence, and social skills.
- Support clients during leisure and educational activities both in and out of the classroom.
- Respond to crisis situations and implement appropriate behavior management strategies.
Skill Development & Coaching
- Complete functional living skill assessments as needed and support the development and implementation of treatment/service goals.
- Coach and support clients in developing key independent living skills, including:
- Social Skills: Community-based outings, peer interaction, building relationships.
- Executive Functioning: Goal-setting, money management, hygiene, safety, and more.
- Communication Skills: Making appointments, assertiveness, stress and conflict management.
- Community Access: Public transportation, job placement, school attendance, and accessing community services.
Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate with community partners such as schools, families, landlords, transportation providers, and employers.
- Communicate relevant updates and care-related information to internal team members and external providers as needed.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all protected health information in accordance with company policies and state and federal law.
Documentation & Team Participation
- Complete all required documentation and progress notes accurately and on time.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and service planning events to support client care and team development.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent, plus 6–12 months of experience working with individuals with autism, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), or conduct disorder.
- Preferred: Associate or bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, human services, or a related field. Training or experience in behavior analysis is a plus.
